Cabinet to meet on Monday to discuss in-person classes resumption

By Prince Golez

The resumption of face-to-face classes will be discussed in the next Cabinet meeting on Monday, MalacaƱang said.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier suspended the pilot run of face-to-face classes due to new coronavirus variant .

“’Yan po ay paguusapan sa Lunes muli. Kahapon sa press briefing inexplain ni (Education) Secretary Leonor Briones na ito naman ay naunahang naaprubahan ng IATF bagamat panandaliang tinigil natin dahil pumasok ang new variant,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a PTV-4 intervew Friday.

“Pero ngayong nainitindihan na natin ang new variant na ito at mukha namang wala tayong community transmission sa new variant eh bubuhayin muli ang pag-uusap tungkol sa face-to-face (classes),” Roque also said.

The Palace official said schools can hold in-person classes in limited to shorter time periods.

“Hindi naman sinabi na palibhasa face-to-face yan po ay 8 hours (a day for) 5 days a week. Puwede naman one hour per week (o) three hours per week basta meron lang kombinasyon ng module, ng computer-aided at saka face-to-face kung kinakailangan makipagugnayan sa mga guro,” he explained.
