President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to approve the recommendation of Metro Manila mayors to place the entire Philippines under Modified General Community Quarantine next month, his spokesman said.
On Friday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases and local chief executives from the National Capital Region have agreed to the proposal of acting Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Chua to ease quarantine restrictions by March 1.
Roque said Duterte will decide on the matter on February 22.
Earlier, the OCTA Research Group warned that coronavirus cases in Metro Manila will surge up to 2,400 new cases per day by March 26 should it transition to MGCQ from GCQ.
