From the House of Representatives to the Senate?
Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres Gomez is open to the possibility of running for senator in next year’s elections.
The lawmaker, known for her beauty and brains, however prefers to focus on carrying out her duties as representative of Leyte’s 4th district for the meantime.
Rep. Lucy is the wife of actor-turned-politiko Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez.
“I am not closing any doors, but right now I really am just focusing on my work as Representative of the 4th District of Leyte.
,” she said in a Facebook post.
In a survey conducted last November, Torres-Gomez surged to the magic 12 and ranked third in the list of potential senatorial contenders.
When the poll results came out, the lawmaker said she was flattered by the support from the survey respondents. But at the time, she said she was focused on measures and bills that must be immediately passed to ensure the public’s welfare and the nation’s progress. “It has not crossed my mind,” she said then.
The Leyte solon drew praises from some politikos including Senator Panfilo Lacson after she confidently defended the anti-terrorism law from its detractors. Lacson said she was more than beauty and brains. He commended her courage, patriotism and statesmanship.
