No rent freeze for residential tenants, only payment reprieve: Palace

By Prince Golez

MalacaƱang on Thursday clarified that there is no rent freeze for residential tenants struggling to cope with financial impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.

Lessors, however, must comply with the 30-day grace period on the payment of commercial rents, a provision of the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act, according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

“Wala pong freeze in rental ang napaloob sa Bayanihan 1 or 2.

The spokesman likewise appealed to landlords and lessors to be compassionate to their tenants during these challenging times.
