Sen. Panfilo Lacson paid tribute to the late Cavite Governor Ayong Maliksi as he mourned his passing earlier this week.
Lacson, who hails from Cavite, described Maliksi as a tireless public servant who was also his thoughtful father, brother, adviser and supporter.
“Goodbye, Ayong Maliksi, tireless public servant – vice mayor, mayor, congressman, governor, PCSO chairman. Thank you for being my thoughtful father, brother, adviser, leader, supporter, coordinator, reminder, timekeeper, companion and best friend forever. Rest In Peace,” Lacson said on his Twitter account Saturday.

Maliksi died last Wednesday at age 82. He served as vice mayor and mayor of Imus town and became the representative of Cavite’s second district from 1998 to 2001.
He was elected as Cavite governor for three terms from 2001 to 2010, then returned to Congress from 2010 to 2013, but failed to reclaim the gubernatorial post in 2013.
In 2015, he was appointed as Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office chairperson by then President Benigno Aquino III.
