Film actress/television Kris Aquino is trying to stay strong and recuperate from a debilitating autoimmune disease.
In a latest Instagram post, Kris said she recently took medical tests and some details of her health condition. It was a “case of good news/bad news,” she admitted.
The medical tests, so far, showed Kris is not suffering from systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and rheumatoid arthritis. But the antibodies have spiked that added “strain” to a vital organ.
“I’m willing to share that if we ignore my RBC, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and WBC numbers, and looked only at everything else that would be tested for during a thorough blood exam, and without the autoimmune antibody markers we closely monitor, a healthy person would be very happy with my numbers,” she said.
“At this point, my current numbers RULE OUT both SLE & rheumatoid arthritis. BUT there are antibodies that have significantly increased again, putting added strain sa isang vital part ng katawan natin na minsan na dededma dahil hindi tayo aware kung gaano ito kahalaga,” she said.
She conceded that stress and anxiety have contributed to her medical condition.
Kris recently had a sudden drop in weight and has been experiencing insomnia. She admitted that having autoimmune disease was “hard to treat and harder to predict.”
Kris plans to take time to heal and may not be frequenting social media for the meantime.
“Kung dadalang ang mga post, it doesn’t necessarily mean i am sad, depressed, and sicker- i am only giving myself time to heal until my next set of tests in about 10 to 12 weeks,” she said.
The daughter of the late President Cory Aquino and Senator Ninoy Aquino first revealed her battle with autoimmune disease in 2018. After taking medical tests in Singapore, she learned she was suffering from chronic spontaneous urticaria, an allergic condition of the skin.
