A Filipino-American has been chosen as the next attorney general of the most populous state in the United States.
Rob Banta, born in the Philippines and raised in California, has been named by Gov. Gavin Newsom to be the state’s attorney general of the state.
Senator Risa Hontiveros took to Instagram to extend her congratulations to Banta on his latest appointment.
“Congratulations, Rob Bonta, for being California’s first Filipino Attorney-General!” the senator said.
Hontiveros took pride of Banta who would now work in the US justice system. The senator met Bonta two years ago in the United States.
“It was a joy exchanging memories and hopes with you and your Mom, Cynthia ,of KDP in Alameda in June 2019. I’m proud to see our kababayan in a position to further his vision of a justice system that is truly equal. Mabuhay ka!✊🏼💙” she said.
