“Sumasakay sa isyu.”
Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo had this to say after Senator Imee Marcos called for the abolition of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases and the appointment of public health experts to handle the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
In an interview with POLITISKOOP, Panelo reiterated that the recommendations of the IATF, a policy-making body co-chaired by Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, were based on scientific data.
“Ang problema kay Imee para naman siyang hindi nagbabasa ng diyaryo,” the abogado said Wednesday.
“Ang mga meetings ng IATF palaging naroroon ang mga experts. Kasama sila sa discussion. Ilang beses na namin sinasabi yan pero nagbibingi-bingihan eh,” he added.
Malacañang earlier said that virus mutations, not the IATF, should be blamed for the recent spike in new Covid-19 cases.
The Philippines has recorded 684,311 confirmed cases of Covid-19, of which 91,754 are active cases.
