San Miguel Corp. (SMC) President and Chief Operating Officer Ramon Ang is placing his bet on Senator Manny Pacquiao as the country’s next president, according to the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s (PDI) “Biz Buzz” column.
PDI said Ang picked Pacquiao “with full conviction” as the winner of the 2022 presidential race during an online roundtable discussion with select journalists and columnists.
The bilyonaryo made the prediction based on his reading of current trends, the paper added.
Pacquiao has been going around the country amid the pandemic to distribute help to poor Filipinos.
The eight-division world boxing champ has yet to confirm his presidential bid, though a number of politikos—including Senate President Vicente Sotto III and Senator Panfilo Lacson—said he’s planning to run for president.
Politiko also reported that Pacquiao sought Duterte’s blessing for his candidacy but the President prefers his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, or Senator Bong Go, to succeed him.
