‘Di sigurado 2022: Sara Duterte fears COVID-19 ‘might get me already’

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte is unsure whether she will still be around for the 2022 elections, even as she remains the candidate to beat in Pulse Asia’s latest pre-election survey for potential presidential bets.

Duterte again downplayed the possibility of her running for president when her reaction was sought on the results of Pulse Asia’s survey.

“2022 is still far away, but I don’t know if I can even be here in October because COVID-19 might get me already. There isn’t anything definite in this time of a pandemic,” The Philippine Star quoted Duterte as saying on her weekly radio show.

October is the period for filing of certificates of candidacy for those running for president, vice president and other national positions.

Results of Pulse Asia’s survey conducted from February 22 and March 3, 2021 showed Duterte as the leading potential presidential candidate, with a popularity rating of 27%.

Trailing behind her in a far second place is former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. at 13%.

Senator Grace Poe and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno are tied in third place at 12% while Senator Manny Pacquiao ranked fourth at 11%.
