Duterte says he prevented PH from becoming narco state

By Prince Golez

The Philippines would have become a narco state if it weren’t for the government’s crackdown on illegal drugs, President Rodrigo Duterte said Monday.

Duterte said the country would have been taken over by drug traffickers had he not been elected to office.

The Chief Executive made this comment after Senator Leila de Lima asked his longtime aide and Senator Christopher Go to stop “covering up” for him while he was missing from the public eye for two weeks.

“Galit ako kasi ang mga anak natin hindi ako papayag na magiging narco-state tayo. Galit ako dahil kung wala akong ginawa, we would have been a narcopolitics state. Hindi mo kaya ‘yan. Iyong ginawa ko hindi mo kaya sa totoo lang,” he said during his “Talk to the People” address late Monday.

Duterte said de Lima deserved to be thrown in jail because she allowed drugs to proliferate inside the New Bilibid Prison under her watch.

“Magtiis ka. P***** i** mo. Binastos mo ang Pilipinas ng droga diyan mismo sa national penitentiary. Ngayon sige ka yawyaw diyan kung ano-anong pinagsasabi mo na hindi ko kaya,” he added.
