President Rodrigo Duterte is his modern-day Lapu-Lapu, according to Palace Spokesman Harry Roque.
In a televised briefing held in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu Tuesday, Roque cited the Duterte administration’s pursuit of an independent foreign policy with other countries, which proves beneficial to the Philippines.
“President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is my modern-day Lapu-Lapu,” the secretary said.
“Lalung-lalo na sa kanyang polisiya na independent foreign policy, dahil ibig sabihin po niya, kaibigan natin ang lahat, wala tayong kaaway, wala po siyang sinasantong mga dayuhan,” he explained.
Today marks the 500th anniversary of the victory of the Mactan chieftan Lapu-Lapu against Spanish conquerors led by Ferdinand Magellan.
