The Bureau of Immigration (BI) advised on Saturday (May 15) that all travelers from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the United Arab Emirates are not allowed to enter the Philippines.
“All passengers coming from or who have been to India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Oman and the United Arab Emirates within 14 days immediately preceding arrival in the Philippine shall be prohibited from entering the country effective 0001H of 15 May 2021 Manila until 2359H of 31 May 2021,” read the BI’s latest advisory based on the May 13 resolution of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID).
The ban was imposed due to the presence of the latest variants of the COVID-19 in the six countries.
On the other hand, those who arrived before May 15 “shall not be prohibited from entering the Philippines, but shall be required to undergo an absolute facility-based fourteen-day quarantine period notwithstanding a negative Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Raction (RT-PCR) result.”
The BI said Filipinos covered by any government repatriation program and have been to these countries within 14 days shall be allowed to enter the Philippines but will have to undergo a 14-day quarantine and RT-PCR tests after arriving.
Filipinos and foreigners who only transited to the six countries and never stepped out of the airport “need not complete a full 14-day facility-based quarantine, but shall comply with existing testing and quarantine protocols of the national government.”
