Bayan Muna Rep. Eufemia Cullamat on Friday lauded the dismissal of “trumped-up” charges against the so-called Bakwit 7 who were detained since February.
The Davao del Norte provincial prosecutor has dismissed the illegal detention charges filed by the police against Chad Booc, Roshelle Mae C. Porcadilla, Benito Bay-ao, Segundo Milong, Jomar Benag, Esmelito Oribawan and Moddie Mansimuy-at.
The seven were arrested in an operation in a retreat house of the University of San Carlos in Cebu on February 15. The police claimed that it was a rescue operation and that the children were being trained to become child warriors.
The university however said that the students and staff of the Lumad Bakwit school were guests.
