National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr. confirmed plans to eventually remove Lt. General Antonio Parlade as spokesperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) before he retires.
Though tight-lipped on details, Esperon who also serves as vice-chairman of NTF-ELCAC said they’re doing something about it.
Senator Panfilo Lacson initially bared this plan in a tweet wherein he said that Esperon promised to “ease out” Parlade from the task force.
“Tutuparin namin ‘yon. Gagawa kami ng paraan,” he said on Politiskoop.
“Pagbigyan lang kami ng konti. Kami naman, alam naman yung ibig sabihin ni Senator Lacson at ng ibang mga senador.”
Esperon also explained why they’re careful not to order Parlade’s removal. “Kung tatanggalin mo, parang sinabi mo na mali lahat ng sinabi niya.”
Lacson wants Parlade removed as spokesperson of NTF-ELCAC.
He said Parlade’s appointment is unconstitutional because the law prohibits an active member of the military to hold any civilian post.
Some senators have also called for Parlade’s removal as spokesman following NTC-ELCAC’s red-tagging of community pantries, some celebrities and certain organizations.
