‘Di hassle i-download: House OKs creation of single app for gov’t services

By Billy Begas

The House of Representatives has approved a measure that will create a single government mobile application.

The proposed Government Mobile Applications Act (House Bill 9142) was approved on second reading via voice voting on Tuesday night.

The measure seeks to create a single mobile application to make government services and information easily available to Filipinos by just tapping the screen or clicking the button.

It will also consolidate the existing government gateways into a comprehensive application to reduce inefficiency and save valuable resources of the government.

The bill will also promote ease of data exchange among government agencies and between them and the citizenry.

Under the measure, a portal called Transcendent Unified Government Mobile Application (TUGMA), will be created and designed to provide government information, services, or some other benefits, which can be run on mobile phone, tablets, and similar devices.
