Duterte to Galvez, state forces: Help LGUs in COVID vax rollout

President Rodrigo Duterte instructed National Task Force against COVID-19 Chief Implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr., the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to assist local government units mobilize their Covid-19 vaccination efforts.

“I have ordered Secretary Galvez, the PNP, and the AFP to provide all the necessary support to our LGUs particularly in the delivery of vaccines and mobilization of resources,” Duterte said in his pre-recorded public address aired Wednesday.

The Chief Executive reiterated that all agencies should ensure that local government units will receive their daily jab performance so that the country can reach its target of 1 million jabs or more everyday.

“May nakita kaming fault lines sa overall picture ng program ng vaccination. Eh medyo hindi ako nakuntento,” according to him.

Duterte also directed the Department of the Interior and Local Government to hold accountable LGUs with low vaccine rollouts.

“I have also ordered Secretary Año to impose the necessary sanction against LGUs and local chief executives who are not performing nor using the doses given to them in the most expeditious manner. I will hold each and every LGU accountable for this,” he added.
