Public Works Secretary Mark Villar is stepping up moves to raise public awareness about him ahead of the 2022 elections.
Mark and his father, bilyonaryo Manny Villar, appeared in a television commercial in time for Father’s Day.
The 44-second ad showed the father and son being welcomed by poor children as they walked in a slum area.
Playing in the background was a song about the Villars being the children’s hope.
The commercial ended with a greeting for fathers working hard to have a better future (“Sa mga padre de pamilyang nagbibigay ng magandang kinabukasan”).
A note at the bottom of the ad stated that the footage was shot prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The commercial bore similarities to one of Manny’s well known TV ads as a presidential candidate in 2010.
The elder Villar’s commercial featured children from the slums singing the jingle “Naging Mahirap,” which had the line, “Nakaligo ka na ba sa dagat ng basura?”
Mark is rumored to be running for senator in the upcoming elections.
“Parating na, parating na..”
