Inbound travelers to the Philippines who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 are now only required to complete a seven-day facility-based quarantine, Malacañang said Friday.
Individuals entering the country previously needed to undergo a 14-day facility-based isolation.
“All inbound fully vaccinated individuals shall be required to undergo a seven-day facility-based quarantine upon arrival,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said, noting that the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) must ensure strict symptom monitoring while in the isolation facility.
Based on the guidelines approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases, an individual is considered fully vaccinated two or more weeks after receiving his/her second dose or two or more weeks after receiving a single-dose Covid-19 vaccine.
Roque said fully vaccinated individuals must carry their vaccination card verified prior to departure, which must be presented to a BOQ representative for re-verification at the Department of Transportation One-Stop Shop upon arrival in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, RT-PCR test must only be done when the traveler manifests Covid-19 symptoms within the seven-day quarantine.
“After completing the 7-day facility-based quarantine, the BOQ shall issue a Quarantine Certificate indicating the individual’s vaccination status,” the Palace official said.
Roque said the government’s Covid-19 task force has directed the Department of Health, Department of Finance, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Foreign Affairs and the National Economic and Development Authority to convene and provide recommendations to further relax testing and quarantine protocols for certain classes of travelers.
