Pinoys to reject Duterte-Duterte tandem? Palace: See you in May 2022

“See you on election day.”

Palace Spokesman Harry Roque made the statement in response to the claim of the opposition that Filipinos will reject the Duterte-Duterte tandem in the 2022 national elections.

“Taong-bayan po ang magdedesisyon diyan,” Roque said in a televised briefing Monday.

Earlier, lawyer Howard Calleja, one of the convenors of 1Sambayan, a coalition challenging the administration’s bets in next year’s elections, said the possible 2022 tandem of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and her father, President Rodrigo Duterte is a “selfish move” and an “insult” to the Filipino people.

“Nakapagtataka naman bakit kaya ang akala ng opposition sila ang tagapagsalita ng taumbayan. Kung titignan mo ang mag survey wala pa pong limang porsyento ang hindi sumusuporta sa ating presidente,” the Palace spokesperson said.

Duterte-Carpio is the top choice among the preferred 2022 presidential bets according to a latest pre-election survey.

The ruling party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan recently nominated the President as a candidate for vice president in the 2022 polls.
