There’s a new narrative being spread by trolls alleging that family and friends of former President Benigno Aquino III left him to die for political mileage ahead of the 2022 elections.

The post, written by one Jun Abines, questioned why there were no nurses or doctors on standby at Aquino’s home in Quezon City considering that he had been seriously ill for months.
Aquino’s longtime driver had told reporters that the former President was found unconscious inside his room on June 24.
“Imagine yourself being a former President. You have several siblings and friends all super rich and powerful. You are very sick. Yet no one was there at your most critical moment of survival. No one cares to detail a nurse or doctor to look after you,” Abines said.
The post even questioned why Aquino’s remains were immediately cremated, wondering if his family was “ashamed” to let the public know what he looked like. Abines said the circumstances surrounding the former President’s death showed the people around him were “shady and cunning.”
“It now appears a dead Pnoy was more useful than alive for his gimmick-hungry volture (sic) friends. They badly need a new political milleage (sic) for the fast coming Presidential elections,” the post read.
The post has been shared in or by Facebook pages and groups associated with administration allies, such as the Sara Duterte 2022 page with 33,000 followers, Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa group with nearly 35,000 members and the Sara Duterte for President Movement.
