President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday expressed concern about the delta variant of Covid-19, which he called “more vicious, aggressive and fatal.”
“That puts us in grave concern because ang sabi na nga na it is aggressive, vicious, and more virulent and can cause death faster than Covid-19,” Duterte said during his weekly televised briefing.
The Chief Executive said the government may impose stricter restrictions to prevent mass gatherings or other super spreader events.
“I hope that our existing infrastructure in dealing with the problem of Covid-19 can cope up. Depende kung the vaccines for Covid-19 can be as effective in dealing with the virus delta,” according to him.
“Pagka nandito na, saka man it will spread, I hope it will not, then we’ll have to go again to stricter measures,” added Duterte.
