Duterte’s martial law remark just ‘an expression of frustration’: Roque

By Prince Golez

“It’s an expression of frustration.”

Palace Spokesman Harry Roque made this comment after President Rodrigo Duterte advised the next president during his final State of the Nation Address to declare martial law to rid the government of corruption.

“It’s an expression of frustration kumbaga, dahil talagang gustung-gusto niyang linisin ang gobyerno, pero he could not do it in six year’s time.

On Monday, Duterte said that corruption was “endemic” in the government and the only way to stop it was through the enforcement of martial law.

“Nobody can stop corruption unless you overturn the government completely. If I were the next president, if you think there’s really a need for you to change everybody in the system, then you declare martial law and fire everybody and allow the new generation to come in to work for the government,” the President added.
