MalacaƱang congratulated Filipinos athletes who advanced in their respective sporting events at the Tokyo Olympics.
Boxer Nesthy Petecio is scheduled to fight for gold on Tuesday. Ernest John Obiena also qualified for the menās pole vault finals while boxer Carlo Paalam advanced to menās flyweight quarterfinals, both slated to compete on August 3.
āWe are one with the Filipino people in rejoicing the performance of our athletes in todayās schedule of games of the Tokyo Olympics,ā Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement Saturday.
āWe congratulate Nesthy Petecio in winning the womenās boxing featherweight semifinals of the Tokyo Olympics and securing a second Olympic medal for the Philippines; EJ Obiena for leaping into the finals of the Menās Pole Vault; and Carlo Paalam for clinching a quarter finals ticket in the menās boxing flyweight class,ā he added.
Roque said the whole nation is praying for all Filipino athletes still competing in Japan.
āGo for gold!ā he concluded.
