Roque calls Del Rosario ‘traitor’: Mahiya ka sa buong bansa

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Monday enjoined Filipino lawyers to study the possible legal liability of former Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosario for his role in the withdrawal of Philippine vessels in Scarborough Shoal in 2012.

“I enjoin lawyers and other groups to study the legal liability of Albert del Rosario in ceding Scarborough Shoal to China. Mangilabot ka naman sa mga sinasabi mo. Mahiya ka sa buong bansang Pilipinas,” Roque said in a virtual presser.

The Palace official issued the statement following del Rosario’s remark that President Rodrigo Duterte betrayed the Constitution by setting aside the country’s 2015 arbitral win against China over disputed areas in the West Philippine Sea.

Roque insisted that it was del Rosario who gave possession of Scarborough to China.

“Siya po ang nagpaalis sa ating mga kasundaluhan sa Scarborough na naging dahilan na ang Tsina na lang ang natira sa Scarborough,” he said.

“Mr. Del Rosario, if you want to talk about who the real traitor is ikaw yun. Ikaw ang namigay ng teritoryo sa Tsina. At ikaw habang hindi ka makakapagpakita ng teritoryo na ibinigay ng Presidente Duterte sa ibang bansa, manahimik ka diyan. Ikaw nga ang may pananagutan diyan,” he added.
