By Prince Golez

More than nine million families affected by the imposition of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the National Capital Region have already received the national government’s financial assistance, Malacañang said.

In a televised briefing Thursday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said as of August 24, P9.1 billion out of the P11.2 billion budget for the cash aid was distributed.

“Binabati natin ang mga lokal na pamahalaan ng Metro Manila dahil [80.92] percent or 9.1 billion out of 11.2 billion ng ayuda ang napamigay na sa ating low income individuals and families as of August 24, 2021,” according to Roque.

“Ibig sabihin, mahigit 9 na milyon ang nakatanggap na ng cash assistance. Ito na ang pinakamabilis na distribution na naisagawa sa Metro Manila simula ng pandemia,” he added.

Meanwhile, Roque confirmed that the Department of the Interior and Local Government has extended the deadline for the distribution of ayuda to August 31.

Qualified individual beneficiaries will receive P1,000 each, with a maximum of P4,000 per household.
