#PolitikoWatch FTW or epic fail? Roque promotes COVID-19 vax drive; Duterte makes cameo in infomercial

The government has produced a new advertisement to promote vaccination among Filipinos to fight off the dreaded coronavirus disease.

The latest government infomercial stars Presidential spokesman Harry Roque who is rumored to be eying a Senate run in next year’s elections.

Ahead of the national polls, Roque promotes the importance of vaccination for life to return to normal.

“Kapag tayo agad magpapabakuna, mabilis babalik ang masayang buhay para lahat tayo balik pamilya, balik trabaho, balik buhay,” Roque says in the ad.

The former congressman appears with his wife Mylah in the latest government-funded informercial.

President Duterte also makes a cameo towards the end of the informercial. “Magbalik-buhay, magpa-bakuna,” the President says.

The Palace earlier announced the President, who has been fully vaccinated, would appear in a commercial to encourage Filipinos to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Roque said the President would be the “biggest endorser” for the informercial prepared by his office.

Many Filipinos have been forced to stay at home except for going to work and buying food and other essentials during the lockdown that started in March 2020. The community quarantine level changes depending on the rise and fall of coronavirus cases, critical health care use, as well as economic indicators.

The government’s vaccination drive had a slow start due to limited supplies of the drugs. So far, more than 13 million Filipinos have been fully vaccinated out of the 50 to 70 million goal to attain herd immunity before the end of 2021.
