Malacañang on Thursday denied that the issue between President Rodrigo Duterte and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio was just a “zarzuela.”
“Over naman yan. I don’t think people would want to be exposed to this kind of a controversy just for a zarzuela. Over naman yan,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a virtual presser.
Roque made the comment after Duterte-Carpio urged Duterte and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go to come clean about their tandem in the 2022 national plans and stop linking her to their political plans.
“I strongly suggest to the President and Senator Go to own up publicly their decision to run as a tandem. If they can confirm it privately, then I do not see the reason why they cannot be candid about it to the public,” the presidential daughter said in a statement Tuesday.
Duterte earlier said he and Go won’t run in next year’s polls if his daughter will pursue her presidential bid.
