Tipid tips: Risa pays with cash than credit card

Senator Risa Hontiveros is steering away from credit cards to avoid overspending.

In a latest social media post, Hontiveros talked about four money saving tips, including her preference for a cash-only budget to keep her finances in check.

“TIPID TIPS! 🙃” she said.

Topping the list of the senator’s practical budgeting tips is living with means. Hontiveros revealed that she prefers to pay in cash instead of a credit card.

👍🏼 R – EALISM. We live within my sweldo. We live within our means. Hanggang ngayon wala akong credit card kasi gusto ko talaga cash economy lang kami,” she said.

Hontiveros also avoids getting into debt.

👍🏼 I – WAS UTANG. Ayaw na ayaw ko hangga’t maari na umutang para live within kung ano lang yung monthly na papasok na pera and then yun yung ibubudget ko,” she said.

Having a simple lifestyle also helps to balance the family budget, according to Hontiveros.

👍🏼 S – IMPLENG LIFESTYLE. Para sa kailangan talagang ibubukod ko iyan, kung may gusto, pag-iipunan ko iyan as in every month I’ll set aside a certain amount sa sweldo,” she said.

Hontiveros is a huge believer of saving money. She sets aside a portion of her salary for savings. Money for household expenses is also put aside.

👍🏼 A – LKYANSYA AT ENVELOPE SYSTEM. Kasi lumaki akong nagpipiggy bank.
🙌🏼,” she said.
