Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is urging Vice President Leni Robredo to finally decide on whether or not she will run for president in next year’s elections. If Robredo won’t seek the presidency, the former senator is ready to take a shot at the presidency in the 2022 polls.
Trillanes made the appeal to Robredo with a week left before the filing of certificates of candidacies for the 2022 national and local elections. The Commission on Elections has set the COC filing period from Oct. 1 to 8, 2021.
“Muli, nananawagan kaming mga Magdalo kay VP Leni na magbigay na ng agarang desisyon ukol sa darating na 2022 elections,” he said on Facebook.
“Kung handa na si VP Leni, ipapanalo natin siya. Kung hindi naman siya tutuloy, nakahanda ang Magdalo,” he said.

Trillanes not angry if Robredo won’t pick him as running mate: ‘Importante na maipanalo siya’
Robredo earlier said she was open to running for president but preferred to hold coalition talks with potential contenders for a proposed united opposition. The veep previously held talks with presidential hopefuls like Senators Ping Lacson and Manny Pacquiao.
Trillanes said the unity talks were over since Lacson, Pacquiao and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno have already confirmed their plans to run for president in next year’s polls. He said these aspirants were not the real true opposition anyway.
