President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday questioned why Senator Dick Gordon’s face is plastered in ambulances of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).
In his taped public address, Duterte described this move as a “cheap political gimmick.”
“Bakit iyong kay Gordon sa Red Cross mayroong mukha nya naka-display… I’m wondering why ako na ngayon ang naging cheap politician. Eh itong isang bright boy sa Olongapo, yung mga ambulansya niya nandiyan ang mukha niya,” the country’s chief executive said.
Gordon is a long-time chairperson of the PRC.
“It’s easy to say that one is a cheap politician… Makikita lang ng tao kung sino ang nagmumura o yung nagmumura ang mukha,” he added
Earlier, Gordon called Duterte “a cheap politician” after the president accused the lawmaker of enriching himself first as head of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and later as PRC head.
