Malacañang believes that Justice Dimaampao is “a welcome addition” to the Supreme Court (SC).
Dimaampai, a Court of Appeals justice for 17 years, was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte to the high court, filling up the post left by Alexander Gesmundo who was named chief justice in April.
“Justice Dimaampao, who served the Court of Appeals (CA) for many years, is a welcome addition to the SC,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a press statement Tuesday.
Roque expressed confidence that the newest SC justice will continue to uphold the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law.
“We wish the newest magistrate of the SC all the best in all his future endeavors,” he added.
Dimaampao, who hails from Marawi City, will hold office until 2033, when he reaches the mandatory retirement age of 70.
