Don’t blame Bree: Gabriela seeks thorough probe of Jonson death to avoid Ongpin whitewash

By Billy Begas

The Gabriela Women’s Party on Sunday called on the netizens to stop victim-blaming in the case of contemporary artist Bree Jonson, who was allegedly found unconscious inside a comfort room of a resort in La Union.

Gabriela said victim-blaming “only reinforces the misogynist projections of women in our society.”

“A thorough investigation on her death must be done to rule out suspicions of foul play and whitewash, especially as a member of the powerful Ongpin family was with the artist during her death,” the group said in a statement.

Gabriela condoles with the family and friends of Jonson, who was found lifeless on September 18.

“We will closely monitor the case and will await further findings of the authorities,” the group added.

Jonson was allegedly found unconscious by Julian Ongpin inside the comfort room of the room they rented in a resort in La Union.
