President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday asked Commission on Audit (COA) Chairperson Michael Aguinaldo if he has filed any case against Senator Dick Gordon for giving a portion of his then-Priority Development Assistance Fund to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).
Duterte earlier claimed that Gordon “co-mingled” P88 million of his pork barrel funds to PRC, which he concurrently sits as chair.
“Ang COA naman, I’d like to address myself to COA, si Aguinaldo. Ako noon, alam mo Chairman Aguinaldo, wala ka ng taong makikita as courteous, as most respectful to you. Noong pinakilala mo ako, magsalita pa ako, mag-bow-bow pa ako,” the Chief Executive said during his taped public address.
“Pero pagka you trigger something in me, pati ikaw tanungin ko, anong ginawa mo sa kaso ni Gordon? Have you filed a case against him? Or have you initiated a case against him? Or did you report this matter to the Ombudsman? Kasi ‘pag hindi, kasali talaga tayong lahat dito. Why because he is a senator? O nabayaran kayo lahat diyan? Tell me,” he also said.
Duterte has repeatedly criticized Gordon, whom he ridiculed as being fat and called a “despot,” for leading the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee probe into the alleged anomalous purchase of Covid-19 supplies last year.
