Duterte commends Duque, health workers for 1.8 million Covid-19 recoveries

By Prince Golez

President Rodrigo Duterte recognized the efforts of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and medical workers for the high number of Filipinos who have recovered from Covid-19.

In his taped public address Thursday, Duterte said the country’s recovery rate from the pandemic was a “very good reflection” of the government’s Covid-19 response.

‘The Philippines has breached the [2]-million mark in COVID cases, kaya medyo ‘yung ganoon karami po ang tinamaan ng COVID,” the Chief Executive said.

“However, ang consuelo natin is that 1.8 million of these have recovered. So mayroon na lang [200,000] na wala. And that is a very good reflection of what our health people are doing, and I would like also to commend Secretary Duque for that,” he added.

On Thursday, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 16,621 new Covid-19 infections, bringing the nation’s overall tally to 2,020,484.

A total of 1,840,294 individuals have recovered, while 33,680 have died, date from the DOH also showed.
