Duterte wants justice in death of painter Bree Jonson

By Prince Golez

President Rodrigo Duterte is aware of the death of Davao artist Breanna “Bree” Jonson who was found unconscious in a hostel in San Juan, La Union on September 18, Malacañang said Monday.

Jonson, 30, was last seen with Julian Ongpin, the son of business magnate Roberto Ongpin.

“[President Duterte] has instructed the criminal justice system to accord the victim justice,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said during a televised briefing.

“Pero kinakailangan hayaan natin magpatuloy ang imbestigasyon para malaman natin ano talaga nangyari,” added Roque.

The Philippine National Police earlier released CCTV footage showing Jonson and Ongpin in an alleged alteration outside their room before the young painter was found lifeless inside their room at the Flotsam Jetsam Resort.
