The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said it has released more than 300 inmates from its prisons in August.
The BuCor said its Inmates Documents Processing Division (IDPD) has processed “339 qualified PDL despite the health crisis we are facing today.”
“Among those qualified: 106 were acquitted, 19 were granted parole, 26 completed their maximum service of sentence, 156 were maximum sentence through GCTA (Good Conduct Time Allowance), 22 were returnees, 1 was through bailbond, and 9 were approved Probation,” it said in a statement.
It noted that the most number inmates released last month came from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City with 223 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) freed.
The others are 35 from the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City; 24 from the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro; eight from the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Palawan; 16 from the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP); 29 from the Davao Prison and Penal Farm; and four from the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga.
