Fruitfull meeting: Canadian envoy talks economic recovery with Lacson, Sotto

“A distinct honour.”

This was how Canadian ambassador to the Philippines Peter MacArthur described on Wednesday his recent meeting with Sen. Panfilo Lacson and Senate President Vicente Sotto III.

MacArthur tweeted photos of his meeting with Lacson and Sotto, saying they had a “wide-ranging discussion” of Canada-Philippine ties, including the COVID threat.

“A distinct honour to be received by (Sotto and Lacson) for wide ranging discussion of Canada-Philippines relationship including efforts against common COVID19 threat, economic recovery legislation and future prospects,” he said.

Lacson and Sotto are running mates in the May 2022 election, with Lacson running for President and Sotto for Vice President. They are expected to file their certificates of candidacy on Oct. 6.

Both have assured the public they will continue to do their work as senators while the Senate is in session.
