JV faces ‘tough’ Senate run due to campaign money woes: Good name is my main weapon

Running for senator again will not be a walk in the park for this politiko.

Former Senator JV Ejercito admitted having financial difficulty to bankroll his planned senatorial bid in the 2022 elections. Ejercito said his only weapon in the senatorial campaign would be his good name.

“This Senate comeback bid will be a very tough fight. Was not ready to run 2 consecutive national elections, financially. I only have my good name as my main weapon,” he tweeted.

Ejercito, son of former President Joseph Estrada, ran but lost his Senate bid in 2019 elections.

He announced recently about taking another shot at a Senate seat, presenting himself as the “good one” who deserves to return to the upper chamber.

“Wala ng atrasan mga ka-good ones!” he said, after signing his Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) to become a senatorial candidate under the Nationalist People’s Coalition.

If he wins a Senate seat, Estrada plans to continue his programs on universal health care and better transportation system.

“Sa tulong nyo, maibabalik natin ang mga good programs na ating nasimulan at kailangan kailangan natin tulad ng isang makatotohanang Universal Health Care para sa kapakanan ng nga nag ka Covid at mga healthworkers, ang pagsulong ng comprehensive railway system, pag patupad ng RFID para sa ating mga motorcycle riders at marami pang iba! Laban!!” he said.
