‘Tis the season to party hop: NP stalwarts jump ship to NUP

Some members of the Nacionalista Party (NP) have joined the National Unity Party (NUP).

NUP Deputy Secretary General Reginald Velasco confirmed that Camarines Sur Rep. Luis Raymund ‘LRay’ Villafuerte Jr., Manila Rep. Cristal Bagatsing, Cavite Rep. Jesus Crispin ‘Boying’ Remulla and Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla.

“If you notice lahat yan from Nacionalista Party,” Velasco said.

Velasco said the party has yet to decide whom to support among the presidential wannabes.

Asked for an update about the alliance between NUP and Hugpong Ng Pagbabago (HNP) led by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Velasco said they are still waiting for the coalition agreement.

“Up to now walang schedule. So dapat yan last ano pa yan July, July kami nag-uusap nyan eh, may draft sila na ipinadala samin, which was the same na pinadala nila sa ibang political parties and we said we are ready to sign it okay with us pero walang date pang sinet up to now,” Velasco explained.

Velasco said the NUP has yet to enter coalition agreement with any political party.

“But of course we have received proposals…. yung (Partido) Reporma, yung NPC (Nationalist Peoples Coalition), and then mga local parties. Ang purpose talaga nun is to have common candidates, maiwasan yung paglalaban sa local level, sa national kasi syempre subject to mutual agreements yun ng mga parties bago makapili ng national candidates,” Velasco added.
