Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio has been pretty busy meeting with presidential contenders lately.

Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, a surprise presidential aspirant, sought out the mayor following her highly-publicized meeting with his rival former Senator Bongbong Marcos in Cebu.

Dela Rosa met with the President’s daughter at her office in Davao City on Monday, without giving details about the latest development. A photo of the two politikos was posted on Dela Rosa’s Facebook page.

“Teaser lang muna ito sa aming meeting with Mayor Inday Sara minutes ago at Davao City Hall,” Dela Rosa said.

Del Rosa, a former police chief, is the last-minute choice of the PDP-Laban wing backed by the President to represent the party in the 2022 presidential race. He earlier said he was willing to be substituted by Mayor Sara if she decides to run for president.

Mayor Sara already decided to seek reelection in the 2022 elections instead of seeking the country’s top office.

The Commission on Elections has set a November 15 deadline for political parties to field substitute bets within their own ranks. Mayor Sara heads heads the regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago. She is not a member of the ruling PDP-Laban party, chaired by her father President Duterte.
