Bongbong files COC for president, vows unifying leadership

Former Senator Bongbong Marcos is following in his father’s footsteps by attempting to secure the president in next year’s elections.

Marcos, son and namesake of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, has filed his certificate of candidacy for President at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) on Wednesday. Marcos will seek the presidency under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas party.

Marcos was accompanied by his family during the filing of COC at t he Sofitel tent in Pasay City.

“I filed my CoC for president just now. I guess that makes it all official,” he said.

When he announced his presidential bid, Marcos vowed to bring back the “unifying leadership” in the country. He urged people to unite to rise above the challenges brought by the coronavirus pandemic

“Join me in this noblest of causes and we will succeed! Sama sama tayong babangon muli,” he said in a video posted on Facebook.

Marcos lost his bid for the vice presidency in the 2016 elections. He filed a protest case against Vice President Leni Robredo’s victory in allegations of fraud.
