Pwedeng kabitan ng virus! DOTr ditches plastic barriers inside PUVs

By Prince Golez

Plastic dividers separating commuters will no longer be required in public utility vehicles starting November 4, according to Transportation Assistant Secretary Mark Steven Pastor.

In yesterday’s press conference, Pastor said there’s no research to support the efficacy of these barriers to prevent Covid-19 transmission.

“Wala rin hong medical findings yung aming pag-aaral na ito po ay makakapagpaiwas sa paghawa ng Covid-19 bagkus ay ito po ay maaaring kabitan ng virus because of the plastic material,” the Department of Transportation (DOTr) official added.

Pastor, however, said health safety measures should still be strictly implemented in PUVs.

Starting Thursday, the DOTr said PUVs plying Metro Manila and nearby provinces will be allowed 70 percent passenger capacity.
