Martin Andanar on why he didn’t run for Senate: Babalik ako sa media

By Prince Golez

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said he plans to return to the private media when President Rodrigo Duterte ends his term in 2022.

“Babalik ako sa media armed with vigor and wiser, more knowledge, experience sa pag-reform sa government and with the advocacy of sustainable communication,” Andanar said in an interview with dyLA.

The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) chief decided not to run for a Senate seat despite being included in the initial senatorial slate of the ruling PDP-Laban wing headed by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi.

“I entered this job as a technocrat, meaning an expert in media that will fix the government media. And that’s what I did. And we will exit again as a technocrat,” according to him.

Prior to his appointment as PCOO chief in 2016, Andanar was a television executive at TV5.

He was also an anchor for TV5 and AksyonTV and a commentator of Radyo5.
