Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio is battling the coronavirus illness in isolation.
The President’s daughter has tested positive for COVID-19, showing mild symptoms, according to a statement issued by her camp.
Mayor Sara and her family have also asked for privacy while trying to recover from the illness. The public is also discouraged from sending gifts and other tokens wishing her recovery.
“The Office of the City Mayor of Davao hereby informs the public that Mayor Sara Duterte tested positive for Covid-19 tonight. She has mild symptoms and is in isolation caring for other family members who need medical attention in Davao City,” the statement read.
“The family requests for complete privacy at this time and respectfully urges the public to refrain from sending tokens for well wishes,” it said.
People who came in close contact with the mayor haven been asked to monitor for symptoms and get tested for COVID-19.
