Taguig Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano will run for senator in the 2022 polls, Politiko has learned.
Cayetano is set to announce his political plans on Thursday (October 7). He earlier said he will not run for president.
The latest Pulse Asia survey conducted in September showed Cayetano in second place among potential senatorial candidates, next to broadcaster Raffy Tulfo.
Should Cayetano win, he will join his sister, Pia, in the Senate.
Cayetano served as senator for two terms before running for congressman in 2019. He also ran for vice president alongside then-Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte but lost.
