President Rodrigo Duterte expressed regret that Transportation Sec. Art Tugade did not run for senator.
For greater good: Tugade explains why he shelved senatorial bid
In his taped public address Monday, Duterte hailed Tugade for the newly constructed Bicol International Airport.
“I’d like to commend Tugade for the splendid work that he has done,” the Chief Executive said.
“Kaya lang sayang, ayaw niyang tumakbo ng senador. Kumpletuhin daw niya ang projects niya, tapos, pareho kami siguro mag retire. Sabay kami,” he added.

Earlier, Tugade said he decided not to file his candidacy for senator so he can continue projects in his department.
