Former Senator JV Ejercito will be running for senator in the upcoming elections.

Ejercito filed his certificate of candidacy for senator in the 2022 elections at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Saturday. For the second consecutive polls, he will be running against his half-brother former Senator Jinggoy Estrada in the forthcoming senatorial race.

The two sons of former President Joseph Estrada ran but lost in the 2019 senatorial elections. The two pushed ahead with their candidacies despite reported appeals to field only one Estrada for the Senate contest to ensure sufficient votes for victory. The relations between the two brothers have been strained for the past few years.
