The administration’s plans for the 2022 elections continue to evolve, with Senator Bong Go joining the presidential race and President Rodrigo Duterte hinting about a possible vice presidential bid.

Go filed his certificate of candidacy for president Saturday (November 13) at the Commission on Elections head office in Manila, shelving his vice presidential bid.
He will be running under the Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS), which originally fielded Grepor Belgica as its standard bearer.
Joining Go in filing his COC were Duterte and Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, who withdrew his candidacy as president under PDP-Laban.
While Duterte did not file his candidacy for any position, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said the President will return to the Comelec office on November 15 to formalize his vice presidential bid.
Should Duterte push through with his vice presidential bid, he will run head to head with his own daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

The younger Duterte will be running for vice president under Lakas-CMD, the party of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, chairman of the PDP-Laban wing supported by Duterte, said Go will be running for president under PDDS to avoid legal complications.

The Cusi wing of PDP-Laban is embroiled in a legal battle with the faction led by Senator Manny Pacquiao, who’s running for president.
November 15 is the Comelec’s deadline for substituting candidates for the 2022 elections.
