Duterte tells LGUs to ensure vaccinators enough to give COVID shots

By Prince Golez

President Rodrigo Duterte urged local government units (LGUs) to ensure that there will be enough healthcare professionals to administer Covid-19 vaccines.

On Tuesday, Duterte ordered the use of air assets of the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines to hasten the delivery of vaccines outside Metro Manila.

“Gamitin na lang ang mga air assets ng PNP pati AFP. Pag-deliver doon sa eroplano, tapos pagdating doon ‘yung TOG, ‘yung mga helicopter nandiyan sa ano will take over. Sila na ang maghatid doon sa mga municipal governments,” the Chief Executive said.

“Ang dapat lang pagdating doon eh talagang nandoon na ‘yung mga tao. The human resource side would be ready to do the injections. Kung sakali mangyari ito, I hope that the local governments, the mayors, would take time really to attend to this problem of delay,” he added.

The latest data of the National Covid-19 Vaccination dashboard showed the Philippines has already administered a total of 60,406,424 vaccine doses, of which 32,656,615 individuals received the first dose and 27,749,809 were fully vaccinated.
